About

Biography

Latin GRAMMY nominee as Best Urban Music Album for Luz (Light), El B (Bian Rodriguez) founder member of Los Aldeanos, respected rap duo from Cuba, has undoubtedly become a leader of the Latin American hip-hop movement. Born and raised in Cuba, El Bʼs music and themes transgress the borders of his native country. His outspoken, uncompromising, unique lyrics and voice have spread his message to a global audience.

With a career spanning from Censurado, his first album with Los Aldeanos in 2003, followed by their second album, Poesia Esposada, released a year later, El B has been recognized as a revolutionary figure. He is critical of bureaucratic regimes and corruption and at the same time reinforces universal human values. Mi Filosofia, released in 2006, was El Bʼs first solo album. The following year Los Aldeanos joined 43 artists in La Comision Depuradora, a collaborative effort that drew much attention being the first album released by many of these Cuban-born rappers. In 2008, El Bʼs double album, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, gained significant international acclaim.

Through the power of the internet, El B has become one the most influential rappers surpassing the 900 million views on YouTube. He has collaborated with numerous artists and producers including Talib Kweli, MLKMAN, Danay Suarez, Epto Uno, and Locos por Juana. After 5 released albums as a solo artist, Luz, released on June 24, 2016 under his record label Rock The Moon and his indie imprint, Zen Star Productions, launched his American debut and consecrated him as one of the pioneers of Latin American hip-hop in the U.S.
